John began his career in filmmaking as an actor, training at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and the University of Utah, while further developing his craft through workshops at the Sundance Directors Lab and Columbia University in New York. His screen work spans leading roles in independent films, series, and national campaigns such as Volkswagen, Wrangler, Volvo, Purina, and RE/MAX, among others. Known for bringing grounded presence and emotional depth to his work, Foss most recently appears in a principal role in the 2026 feature film Young Washington.
